What is Telehealth?
Telehealth—also known as teletherapy or telepsychiatry—allows you to connect with Wilmington Trauma Center Inc providers from the comfort and privacy of your home or any secure location. Using your computer, tablet, or smartphone, you can attend appointments through secure, HIPAA-compliant video visits. Our goal is to make trauma-informed care accessible and convenient, especially for those who may face barriers to in-person visits.
Our Technology & Security
We use Google Meet, a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform, to ensure your privacy and confidentiality. You can join sessions from any device (iOS, Android, or computer) with a reliable internet connection.
- Your telehealth visit is private and confidential, just like an in-person session.
- No appointments are recorded or stored.
- All communications are encrypted and HIPAA-compliant.

Joining Your Virtual Appointment
From a Computer:
- No downloads are required.
- You will receive a unique appointment link via email or text.
- Click the link at your scheduled time; your session will open in a new browser tab.
- Click “Join Now.” If your provider has not yet joined, you will be in a virtual waiting room.
From a Mobile Device:
- Download the free Google Meet app before your appointment.
- Tap the link you receive via email or text; this will open the app and connect you to your session.
- If your provider is not present yet, you will see yourself until they join.
Tips for a Successful Telehealth Session
- Use headphones if possible for added privacy and to reduce background noise.
- Close unnecessary programs or apps to improve connection speed.
- Have your phone nearby in case you need to troubleshoot or contact us.
