Healing Trauma with EMDR Therapy
What is EMDR?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful, evidence-based psychotherapy approach designed to help individuals heal from trauma, PTSD, and distressing life experiences. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation—such as guided eye movements, gentle tapping, or auditory cues—to help your brain process and integrate traumatic memories, reducing their emotional intensity and impact.
How Does EMDR Work?
Traumatic memories are often stored in the brain as "sensory memories," which can trigger distressing emotions and sensations long after the event has passed. EMDR helps you reprocess these memories so they become less overwhelming and more manageable.
During a session, your therapist will guide you through a structured process that allows your brain to form new, healthier associations with past experiences.
